Wood Borer Pest Control

Woodborer are tinny beetles who eats and destroy the wood.

The beetles create a fine, dust like powdered that looks like of baking flour or talcum powder. This boring dust powder falls out of exit holes on floors or other surface area. They deposit eggs in cracks or other small opening holes.

They have a life cycle ranging from 3 months to more than 1 year, depending on temperature, humidity, and wood. The eggs hatch after some three weeks.

Infestations are most likely to occur in wood paneling, molding, flooring, window and door frames, plywood, bamboo articles, and furniture.

Method of Treatment :

Wood borer treatment is carried out with a oil base chemical where the chemical is poured into the existing holes with the injection and general spray will be sprayed on wood infected surface of furniture in order to achieve effective result against wood borer. The treatment is carried without damaging its texture and polish quality.

The oil based chemical is used because it has the tendency to spread across and does not damage the wood or furniture unit.

The best way to wood borer control is before applying varnish, paint, lamination ply and any polish on the plywood, the raw plywood should be treated with oil base insecticides treatment. This absorbs the chemical inside the plywood and gives satisfactory results to the clients and result in being free from woodborer for 8 to 10 years.

• Use good quality of plywood such as timber woods for making furniture.
• Most beetle problems are introduced into homes in finished wood products (e.g., furniture, paneling, or flooring). So it is necessary to fumigate finished wood products before installed in the house.
• Powder post beetles only lay eggs on bare, unfinished wood. Beetles will not infest wood that is painted, varnished, waxed, or similarly sealed.
• Sealing holes prevents re infestation from eggs laid within the hole.
